About Ministry of Sound
In 1991, when Ministry of Sound opened in a disused bus garage in a forgotten
corner of London, it was the first nightclub in the UK to have a 24-hour licence,
didn’t serve alcohol and featured an earth-shaking sound system in a specially
built dance box.
We went on to pioneer everything from compilation albums – becoming the
world’s largest independent music company – to large scale dance music
events – we put one on for 50,000 people at the Millennium Dome.
Almost thirty years later we opened The Ministry, a ground-breaking workspace
with food and beverage, warm hospitality, wellness and thoughtful design at its
core. It also incorporates an external private hire business and a broad cultural
and business events programme. Members work, exercise and socialise all in
one place. The Ministry occupies a 50,000 sq ft Victorian warehouse in Borough,
London SE1.
Our second site, at Westfield in Shepherd’s Bush, London W12, will be
more than twice the size and will include office space, wellness studios, a gym,
event spaces and multiple food and beverage outlets, including a member’s deli
bar, a public facing rooftop bar and restaurant, a juice bar and a fully
functioning bakery. It is scheduled to open in early 2024 and future openings
will include larger mixed-use concepts in central London, with potential for
international expansion.
Ministry Venues sits across both nightclub and workspace businesses,
delivering venue hire and event production services.
The group also operates an animal welfare charity in Thailand, Jai Dog Rescue,
which is in part funded by the group and Battersea Dogs and Cats Home. 2023
will see the launch of Jai Fragrances, a high-end luxury lifestyle brand,
producing scented candles, diffusers and body care, the profits from which will
help to fund the charity.
