About The E. W. Scripps Company
The E.W. Scripps Company (NASDAQ: SSP) is a diversified media company focused on creating a better-informed world. As the nation’s fourth-largest local TV broadcaster, Scripps serves communities with quality, objective local journalism and operates a portfolio of 60 stations in 41 markets. Scripps’ national networks reach nearly every American through the news outlets Court TV and Newsy and popular entertainment brands ION, Bounce, Grit, Laff and Court TV Mystery. Scripps is the nation’s largest holder of broadcast spectrum. Scripps runs an award-winning investigative reporting newsroom in Washington, D.C., and is the longtime steward of the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Founded in 1878, Scripps has held for decades to the motto, “Give light and the people will find their own way.”
Give light and the people will find their own way.
Scripps is a company where competing truths coexist.
We are proud of our long and rich history, but we stay fixated on the future.
We are creating national media brands that complement and support our successful local media but also some that could compete with and disrupt them.
We employ accomplished journalists who have earned prestigious industry awards and have authority with audiences. But we’re also a band of contrarians who challenge the process and push ourselves to do new things.
We are obsessed with being right, but we’re not afraid to experiment and, occasionally, to fail.
Choose your next adventure
At Scripps your career opportunities are as endless as your imagination and initiative. Our goal is to hire the best, to spark your passion for the job, and then to nourish your career with tools to help you exceed your wildest career aspirations.
Why Scripps
Giving passion a place to shine
We are creative and courageous, telling stories with integrity and advancing understanding of the world around us. We are creating the future of our industry, taking opportunities where we find them and creating them where we don’t.

We harness the power of journalism to make communities stronger and the world around us better. We are growing our people as we grow our company, seeking the best in ourselves and one another as we improve the lives of those we serve.

Life at Scripps

Scripps is a place where creativity has taken over. Our teams are focused on creating great work, and great work comes from people who love what they do. We invest in our employees by providing invaluable professional and personal development opportunities. Our core values of courage, compassion, excellence, fairness, integrity and respect are the foundation for our actions. We also take pride in giving back to the places where we live and work through our reporting and community projects.

Equity, diversity and inclusion

We define workplace diversity as inclusive of every employee, including the extent to which they are similar or different. We believe this approach improves our news coverage and content, our business practices and performance and our employee experience.

Our overarching EDI strategy is framed through three key areas: Awareness, action and accountability. We aim to foster an environment that enables all employees and consumers to feel valued and inspired.

Community
We care deeply about our communities; after all, we live in them too. Our views, readers, listeners and advertisers are also our neighbors, fellow citizens, family and friends.

The Scripps Howard Foundation

The Foundation supports philanthropic causes important to Scripps and the communities we serve, with a special emphasis on excellence in journalism. At the crossroads of the classroom and the newsroom, the Foundation is a leader in supporting journalism education, scholarships, internships, minority recruitment and development, literacy and First Amendment causes. The Scripps Howard Awards stand as one of the industry’s top honors for outstanding journalism.

Journalism Industry Partnerships

Scripps works with several industry organizations to promote the role of a free press in creating a better-informed world. With our partners at the News Literacy Project, we launched National News Literacy Week -- a public awareness campaign that ran across Scripps' local TV stations, national brands and other journalism industry partners Jan. 27-31, 2020. And working with Reporters Committee for Freedom of the Press, we're helping to defend First Amendment rights and advocate for open records.
